Yep. I also avoided opportunities for education and even 401k at my jobs, because the end would come before my retirement age anyway. I regret it.

Faders Needing a Great One Liner
by Solzhenitsyn inso our family fade is well under way.
we changed congregations as regular attenders and left in good standing with those giving hugs and kisses simply knowing we "needed a change".
we moved to a neighboring congregation that is out of our original region knowing we would see no one and the two boe's wouldn't really have immediate dealings.

If Angels in the Bible are of neuter gender ? Then why are they always depicted as males by description and name ? And never a female ?
by smiddy3 inin all of the art i`ve seen in christendom, angels always have the form of a male, and in the bible those that are named always have a male name such as michael ,gabriel , etc, .
nowhere in the art world that i have seen do angels have the female form, and in the bible they don`t have female names.. so if the angels are neither male or female why then are they depicted as males with male names ?and not female also ?.
the watchtower illustrators also follow this line .when they illustrate an angel it is always in the form of a male and never a female form.. the anointed who make up the 144000 comprise of male and females right ?

Female angels are mentioned in Zechariah, and there were pictures in last October's Watchtower:

Last weekend's WT study (Nov. 18) had 3 count em THREE Biblical references to the Christian hope of heavenly resurrection that had to be twisted into talking about Earth to fit their doctrine.
1:
In what sense do the mild-tempered âinherit the earthâ? Jesusâ spirit-anointed disciples inherit the earth when they rule over it as kings and priests. (Rev. 20:6) Millions of others who do not have the heavenly calling, however, will inherit the earth in the sense that they will be allowed to live here forever in perfection, peace, and happiness.
2:
âHappy are those who wash their robes.â (Rev. 22:14) In what sense do they âwash their robesâ? Anointed Christians âwash their robesâ in that they are clean in Jehovahâs eyes and will be granted immortal life and enjoy endless happiness in their heavenly position. The great crowd who hope to live on earth can also enjoy a righteous standing as friends of God. They are even now âwashing their robes and making them white in the blood of the Lamb.âââRev. 7:9, 13, 14.
3:
How, though, do the pure in heart âsee Godâ when, in fact, âno man can see [God] and liveâ? (Ex. 33:20) The Greek word rendered âseeâ can carry the sense of âto see with the mind, to perceive, know.â
Of course, resurrected anointed ones will in a literal sense see Jehovah when they receive their heavenly reward.â -

Yesterday's WT slip up
by neat blue dog inwhen the israelites left egypt in 1513 b.c.e., they may have numbered more than three million.
spanning three or even four generations.

Did they really say 1513 BCE?
Yes. While not exactly accurate, this date is closer to the New Chronology of the Egyptian timeline, which scholars have long asserted but not updated with much recent evidence. If you're interested, the documentary Patterns of Evidence lays the loads of evidence out plainly and allows the viewer to reach an informed conclusion:

Jesus name - a convoluted trip back to Jehovah
by neat blue dog inone popular criticism of jw doctrine, and rightly so, is their emphasis on god's name at the expense of jesus.
one inconvenient scripture in this respect is when jesus says his followers would be persecuted "on account of my name".
a question from a recent clam meeting addressed this.. in the bible, the term ânameâ at times stands for the person who bears the name, his reputation, and all that he represents.

One popular criticism of JW doctrine, and rightly so, is their emphasis on God's name at the expense of Jesus. One inconvenient scripture in this respect is when Jesus says his followers would be persecuted "on account of my name". A question from a recent CLAM meeting addressed this.
In the Bible, the term ânameâ at times stands for the person who bears the name, his reputation, and all that he represents. . . . In the case of Jesusâ name, it also stands for the authority and position that his Father has given him.
So what is allegedly infered by extension is said to trump what it simply says. This tactic is similar to their requirements for Elders and Servants. Instead of just reading what the Bible literally says, they say that 'it was understood that taking the lead in field ministry was included in the requirements', and then they go and make that one of the main requirements, with servants falling below the monthly quota, even if regular, being deleted. (This happened twice in my congregation.)

Films with nudity
by neat blue dog ini guess every jw has a different conscience on the matter, and i don't believe any jw publications have ever specifically mentioned nudity in film as being off limits.
of course genitals are out of the question because that's usually relegated to r movies which most good jws don't view.
female toplessness is condoned but not spoken about, as most jws i know have seen titanic and many own it.

I've heard that European JWs have looser standards regarding movies, (different rating systems) and public nudity, (like at the beach). Nothing confirmed though.
